Meet Michael Meduri - @porchpizza

Michael with Pooch

Michael Meduri is a serious pizza enthusiast. He's been tinkering with home pizza making for years but his game really started popping when he picked up a portable Roccbox pizza oven. Now he's making incredible pizza from his front porch in Salem, OR.! Check out Michael's pies via @porchpizza.

How often do you make pizza?
At a minimum every other week. Often once or twice a week.

How long have you been making pizza?
I grew up in a big Italian family, so I was always in the kitchen. I've been making pizza "seriously" for 4 or 5 years now.

How do you describe your style of pizza?
I like to think my style is a mix of the old world (Naples), the new world (New York), and a little Pacific Northwest influence (what I call "Willamette Style"). Those all come together to create Porch Pizza.

What’s one piece of pizza making gear you can’t live without?
Pizza Peel. Not only for cooking, but I have a nice little collection going as well.

What or who is your pizza inspiration?
I love to geek out on pizza history. There are too many inspirations, but guys like Mark Iacono (Lucali), Chris Bianco (Bainco), and Frank Pinello (Best Pizza and The Pizza Show) are strong candidates for my pizza Mt. Rushmore.

What advice do you have for new pizza makers?
There are so many ways to make great pizza. Try different styles. Try different recipes. Find out what YOU like best.
